Our Snap on guys is awesome. He shows up like clockwork every Thursday. I've bought a snap on hammer from him and a used box for $150. (I'm not a tech). He still talks to me when he stops. There is a reason probably 90% of the boxes in our shop are snap on. He hired a new guy to take over his route and he started a new one. The new guy lasted about a month before the original guy started stopping by again. My brother in law has the new guy now at his shop and said he is pretty decent

We had a Mac guy who stopped whenever he felt like it. I haven't seen him in a year. We just had a new Marco guy stop and everyone says he is a pretty decent guy. Not a huge selection but goes out of his way to help.

I have bought some Snap On tools from the dealer down the road in my area. His truck is a mess and fed with the district rep for some reason.Matco,I buy from and his service is great.Asks this question a lot: Have anything broken? He warranties anything broken and wore out on the spot.I just bought a 3/8 Pitbull air ratchet from him(MT2858) yesterday and gave me a deal on it.Plus he knows I am a great customer,I pay him on the spot if I owe money. He has been going after the debt beats lately that owe him money.

i've been dealing with the "big 3" tool trucks for 30 years.

i've had good dealers and bad dealers over the years from all 3.

nowadays none of them seem to stay in business for more than a year or so, and it typically takes several years to find a new dealer.

i usually take care of warranty stuff via the website.

Ive had two snap on guys over the course of 3 years. Both have been pretty good. my current guy is always willing to make a deal and be flexible with payments. only grip is sometimes he comes during lunch and is a bit forgetful about getting me certain things.

My Snap On guy is OK. He tries to be a nice enough guy, and I've learned over the past few years that the traits I don't care for aren't malicious... he just doesn't know better. Good example: I was in the market for a 2115timax, but funds were tight. I told him "Hey, I'd love to buy it from you, but your price is double what I could buy it for online. I can just barely afford to buy it online right now, and I'd like to make a deal so you make some money, and I don't have to fork it all out right now." He showed me his cost, which was right around what Amazon wanted, and wanted to sell it to me for that... I told him no way is he financing my purchase for free, add a few bucks to that and print the receipt.

Bad example: He called me a couple weeks ago, telling me he just found out about a promo on KRL722s for $3,000, and it was going on all month. I mulled it over for a week, and next time he came by, I handed him a check for $1,200 down and told him to order me up an Extreme Green one. He comes by last week with this "Oh man, I really screwed up" story about how "that deal was just one week, and it was supposed to be $3,100, not $3,000, so I shouldn't have sold it to you for $2,700, and oh BTW since the deal ended I couldn't get you a green one, but I did a real big favor and found a guy that's selling me a red one for you!" Well, um, thanks, but that's not really a favor. We agreed on a deal, you took my money, and now you're getting me something else? I mean, it's not like he's trying to be an *******, he thinks he's being really nice... it's just that he's barely doing the right thing.

OTOH, there's another one who does another shop in our building. He's a douche. Actually, he might be the OP's driver. All he cares about is trying to sell big ticket items, and apparently not back them up. He sold the owner whatever their top-shelf scanner/scope is (Verus?) over a year ago, it's never worked right, and he's never gotten it taken care of. One of their guys came from a shop that belonged to my driver, and he's been working on getting the other driver to stop coming.

We just got a new Cornwell guy after over a year. Last guy was cool, but just up and quit one week to run his party bounce house business. The new guy has great timing, someone had just broken one of my Cornwell channellocks (the only Cornwell I own) the week before.

I've dealt with my current SO guy for years and would consider him a decent friend. He's always treated me well and has put aside some special promo items for me. The SO guy before him was cool too. Most of my other tool guys have been decent too so I guess I've been really lucky as far as tool guys go.

My Snap On guys is fantastic. I don't have a shop anymore so I just meet him where I can. All I have to do is call or text him what I need and if he has it I meet him or he will order it and text me when he gets it. He still lets me have a truck account eventhough I'm not at a shop full time. I offer to pay him off but he tells me not too. He is not stupid. He knows I will keep buying stuff. He has been great. I wish ALL tool truck guys were like him

Dont even remember the snap on guys name. looked like he'd been doing it for awhile though. Mac guy name is Jay i believe, cant remember the matco guy he has a beard and drives a newer truck out of all of them. Still wish Cornwelll was around though..

Jay was my Mac guy when I worked in McHenry, I bought a Macsimizer from him about 2006, gave me a real good deal. Rory is the Matco guy, he's fairly new too but does a good job & has been reliable. Craig is my Snap On guy but I don't think he has Woodstock, he's a pretty good guy & wouldn't think he'd be any trouble. SO guy I was thinking of is Randy but I don't know if he has Woodstock either, but he did have parts of Harvard/Hebron.

When I was still wrenching at our Shell Station I had a Snap-On and Mac Tool dealer stop by every week, There used to be two independent tool dealers who also stopped by, one sold Cornwell tools, the other specialized in Hazet, Stahlwille, Koken and other brands. It was kind of nice to have 4 different tool dealers stop by a week. I probably spent the most with Snap On though, he was a very good dealer and would BS with us for at least 20 minutes every week.
