I'm installing an electrical panel in the new house that I would like to mount the panel so that the bottom of the panel is 3' above the basement floor. It will be relocated to it's permanent location after the first floor is framed in. Is tis allowable?

6' to the top is standard practice here...

There is no Code issue as to mounting height that I am aware of.

Great question. I had to measure mine. It is about 57" from the floor to the bottom of the box. And about 77" from the floor to the top of the box. Good luck.

Not what the OP was specifically asking but relevant to the discussion.

The NEC is a permissive code if does not say you can't, then you can.
