You may have seen the thread where I bought a Proto slide puller that was missing its nut. The nut is the big, machined knurled piece that tightens the fingers. I was thinking I'd have to machine this myself, and then some GJers showed me where I could buy it.

But when I first got the puller, I sent Proto an email, asked them where I could find a replacement (that was before the GJers found them online for me). Never heard back from Proto by email. Wasn't very surprised.

Then I get a package in the mail a week later...

No charge.

I'm surprised there was so little communication. I had a 14mm wrench that I wanted to warranty. They had great communication. I sent it in and got a new one in about a week.

It was a web inquiry. Maybe they felt there was nothin' to say. I asked for a part, they sent it the next day.

I sent them a email about the springs in the head of a 3/4" Proto ratchet that belonged to my late son. Never heard anything but got a complete repair kit from them no charge. Great people as far as I'm concerned just don't talk much.

My entire transaction was by email as well.

Still, glad it worked out.

I always buy Proto when I find a good deal, partially because I know they have good support.

How did they find your shipping address from an email?

Bolster,
I had the same experience with a trail camera which I use for deer hunting. It suddenly quit working, and I emailed the mfr and got a RA number via email (return authorization), but they warned me they would have to find out what happened with the camera, to decide whether to fix it within warranty, or to refuse. I shipped it, waited three weeks, and started sending them emails. NOTHING. I kept sending emails, and leaving messages on their company phone. Then it showed up, brand new unit in my old box. STILL no reply. Strange.

I...uh...included it in the email? In the sig block, along with phone and other contact info, in case they decided to contact me in some other way...?

What an odd question...:headscrat

OK. Never occurred to me you might've included it in the email. Figured they'd somehow tracked you down from your email addy. Where's my sign:lol_hitti
