Beat: i didn't see this show about Starrett, but i've seen more than a few and some are pretty interesting. they had a spin off show that was about making Ferrari's and other cool cars that was pretty good in case you can go in your TV's ON DEMAND type area and pull up old shows.

Very interesting indeed. Never put much thought into how those are mad, mane now I know.

Funny, I guess I thought they would be more simple inside, but I guess not.

the one they played this week was on micrometers. pretty impressive on how much goes into making it, all by hand. Now I know why it cost so damn much.

Good show! I watched it last night on my DVR. I was waiting for them to show initial calibration to zero, but didn't see anything? Did I miss something?

Interesting to see them checking surfaces for flatness and parallelism.

BEAT: i had to record 40 shows of HOW IT'S MADE to find this one on the Starrett, but really happy i did. had no clue how much work goes into making one of these and no wonder they are a little spendy.

thanks for letting us know

BTW i saw a few other interesting shows in the group that i'll have to watch when i get some time.

Funny they featured an American company for this as most of the programs show European companies.

Funny they featured an American company for this as most of the programs show European companies.

How It's Made has showed companies from all over the globe making products.

Snap-On, Estwing, Channellock, and Buck Brothers, manufacture in the USA and all have had segments on the show for wrenches, hammers, pliers, and, chisels.

For ice cream cones, they showed Joy Cone Co. which has manufacturing in Hermitage, PA, and Flagstaff, AZ.

For AA batteries, they showed Varta batteries being manufactured, which I believe is still fone in Europe, although someone on Youtube labelled the video Duracell.

And for hand planes, they showed the manufacture of Clifton planes, which are made in the UK.

They also seem to sometimes shoot more than one How It's Made segment in the same factory when possible. Starrett dial indicators, and combination squares have both had segments.
