I’m going to be building new garage this year and and I’m leaning towards sealing it with ghost shield 8510.

Had anyone used it and willing to share how their floor is holding up after a few years?

I used 8505 and was told it should go 10 years before needing recoat. It’s been close to 5 years now and running strong.

So is Ghost Shield worth the money. For two coats on my driveway, it'd be close to $900 (for 8510). The 8505 is $650 or so. Both are covered with 100 yr warranty (reapplication every 10 years). That being said, it reading the warranty, I think it's pretty much useless but at least sheds light on product longevity. These prices are based on their website vs. what can be found on open market

It is rated for 10 years before reapplication is needed. This is supported by a lot of government DOT studies I found when researching it. They recoat bridges every ~10 years to protect the steel reinforcement in or under the concrete. The study I saw did chemical analysis of concrete cores from the bridge to support their decisions.

By way of comparison, how do other concrete sealers hold up? 1 year? 5 yrs? 3 yrs?

Any more insight on this product. My concrete floor is finally getting poured this week so I have about a month to decide and apply a sealer. Is the 8510 any better than the 8505?

Does the concrete sweep easier as opposed to raw concrete?

Does the look of the concrete change at all?

Is there a way to add a gloss over the sealer?

8510 has more than twice the actives to the concrete than 8505. If I was going with a dealer it’s the only way I’d go.

Longevity..... there is no honest answer on this. If it were my own floor I would bet on 5-10 years

To our knowledge since we have never had a customer claim that 8510 we sold had failed or needed a recoat.

As with any project, life span van vary widely based on conditions, usage, care, weather, etc.

Follow up after 8 years. I used Ghostshield 8505 on my concrete porch. It is covered, but still largely exposed to the elements. There are some spots where if water sits long enough it starts to slowly penetrate. However, the penetration seems to be limited. The area that gets wetted stays very small/shallow looking. The bulk of the water still sits on top until it evaporates. I am planning to re-apply another coat next year since this is cheap insurance against rusting out the steel decking the concrete was poured over.
