Im' seriously considering applying epoxy to my garage floor in spring - my question is: How long until I can bring my motorcycles back in? Cars - I don't care about them sitting outside for a week or more - BUT - I hate leaving my babies outside! I have 3 - the heaviest one weighing around 450lbs.

Thanks for any info!

Depends on the product you're using, the weather, and a few other factors.

For our system, with EnduraShield as the clear coat, you could roll the motorcycle on after 36 hours since it has a pretty low psi (as do boxes), although I'd put a load spreader - chunk of smooth wood, under the kick stand. Car after 48 hours, and things with pockey sharp bottoms after 5 or so days. Of course, do a quick hardness (fingernail)check before moving anything back in.

But by all means make a quick call to your product distributor and double check with them.

I was lucky enough to get my floor's epoxy done before we moved anything in, but my neighbor rented a large PODS container to put in his driveway and moved everything out of his garage into the container (probably would not fit a car, but for sure you motorcycle etc). Then let the floor cure really well as there was no rush. If I ever need to redo my floor, this is what I am going to do.

I just put everything in my living room, front porch and driveway. Some of the stuff is still on the front porch actually and I did the floor almost a year ago :bounce:

My mind has now been made up!

My buddy had his garage professionally epoxied over the summer - I think it was August. It cost him about $2200 (give or take) - it looked absolutely awesome when finished! He kept his cars off for 4 weeks and kept his bikes off for 2 weeks (bikes were in basement during this time).

Went over his house the other day - the epoxy has failed! Tire pick up on both sides! He said it wasn't a gradual thing - he just came out to the garage 1 day and suddenly noticed it!

He contacted the company that applied it - no problems there - they warrantied it and told him they would take care of it when the weather gets warmer! But still - that *****! Having to move everything out AGAIN!

That's it for me! I've seen tons of DIY applications fail - but I always assumed they did something wrong or skimped on something. But this most recent 1 example has completely steered me away! It's either VCT or RaceDeck (or equivalent) for me!

Now - how do I get this approved by my in-house budget analyst? Oh yeah -I FIB! :bounce:
