How long until the slab is warm?

From a cold start-up, how long do you estimate it takes to heat up your slab? Just trying to get some base time frames of what others have seen. I have a 960 sq/ft, 5" slab that I'm heating with two 300' loops. Currently running 120 degree into the slab. The system started up (consistently that is!) at about 8PM last night. I didn't lose a single degree of heat in the garage even though I do not have seals around the doors yet and we had a windchill of about 8 degrees last night. I am tempering the water right now until everything is fully heated, but at 5:30 this AM the return line was coming back luke warm. I'm guessing the mixture was about 40 degrees when we started last night.

I powered up mine in January after the new slab was darn near frozen, it ran for nearly a solid week with the same inlet temp that you have mentioned.

The variable will be pump speed.

I have a little over 1000 sqft. heated with PEX and 720 sqft. not heated, connected. Started it Feb 1st this year, temperature outside was in the teens and a blizzard.

If I remember correctly, the 40 Gal water heater ran steady for about 36 hours to get the air temp in my garage to 60*. But after a few hours into the run, I figured out that I was circulating the water to fast, so slowed the pump to low speed and then got a 20* drop in the returning water temp.

After balancing my loops it usually runs at a 15* drop with the floor up to temp.

This fall when the slab got to be 60*, I turned the system on and walked away. The thermostat is set on 62* and it varies very little, even when we drive a cold car into the non-heated part. It is such a great heat. If you are working in there, 62* seems to be about the most comfortable.

Good Luck!

It was 60* in the garage as of about 7:30 PM tonight! Unbelievable! Time to get the seals installed around the doors so that this place stays nice!
