I have a situation. I recently purchased the DeWalt 20v hammer drill and impact driver kit and love it. I still have my 14.4 hammer drill that has one good battery and it works fine. I also just received another new 20v impact driver kit that includes 2 batteries and another charger.

How many duplicates do you have? Do you use them? Or should i sell the new impact driver kit and buy something else that i don't have?

Thanks

1for work, 1 for the house, and 1 for the car/truck(battery not in the driver)
So as i see it, you're good.

I use my cordless stuff all day, every day in my profession, and I do not have duplicates. I'd sell that 2nd impact and buy something you desire. I also get whatever I can for the stuff that I'm replacing whenever I upgrade, while it might still have some value, unless I happen to know someone that could use it.

I keep 2 kits my self. One in truck for roadside or in a pinch t work and. Dedicated kit for the shop. Keeps from having to go under seat or forgettting to put them back. I've bought nd sold kits and kept. Piece or two here and there. Usually break even and end up with a free tool or battery

As someone that has WAY to many duplicates, across various brands and battery lines, I would definantly recomend sticking with 2 lines if at all possible; 10.8v ("12v max"), and 18v. GortonsFisherman is right on about selling unneeded tools now, cordless power tools lose value fast. I've got an 18v DeWalt hammer drill, and impact driver, that has never been used, and I bought them 5ish years ago. They were part of a combo kit I bought because it was a good price, and I needed the 3rd tool in the kit. Now, the batteries are shot, and the tools are no longer top of the line, and DeWalt is moving to a different battery type.

On the other hand, it often makes sense to have multiple copies of the same tool when working on a big job so you don't waste time swapping bits / blades, just keep to the same line so your batteries are interchangeable. And, when your making a living with your tools, having a backup tool which can keep a job moving forward, can pay for itself in saved downtime.

In my line of work I am always being given dewalt tools. I have a lot of 18V and 20V tools. I like to be able to leave them around though. Have no less than 40 batteries. 7-8 impacts. 4 saw-alls, 6-7 drills, 2 hammer drills, 3 grinders, 6 or so flashlights, at least a dozen chargers, 3 wood circ saws, 2 metal circ saws, a few jig saws, etc. I like being able to have some in my basement reloading room, some in the detached garage, some in the house garage. My wife usually has an impact somewhere in her craft rooms etc. Am phasing out the 18V stuff though as my batteries bite the dust. Like the fact with the 20V there is 4 battery choices. Impacts and such you can run the light 1.5 or 2.0 Ah packs.

Impact drivers are always useful so hang onto them. I have a Makita rotary drill that i find is more useful than just the hammer drill alone. A few cordless drills come in handy with multiple impacts drivers if you have a big project and some helping hands.

i dont have many duplicate cordless tools.

as they **** out they get tossed and something new replaces it.
in the case of combo kits, if the batteries are still usuable, i keep whats good out of the set.

in the case of "working" tool, the old stuff gets relegated to garage duty until it comepletely dies.

i have 3 3/8" dr cordless impacts
one with a bad charger and 2 bad batteries, it now has a power cord and alligator clamps on it.
another one has 4 batteries that dont hold a charge for long, and is erratic operating

new one stays in my service truck. i depend on it to work every time i pull the trigger.

Black Friday deals have given me many duplicates, I must have 4 or 5 of the Dewalt 7.2 volt screwdrivers. My 18v dewalt set just won't give up, the batteries have been replaced. I use my cordless tools more than anything else.

I'd sell an extra if new to get the most out of them. You can always add a backup later on if need be, and it's not like someone can't get a job done without a cordless impact. They're more of a convenience tool than anything.

Not enough information!

Are these for work or hobby/avocation?
What do you do with them?
Do you have money to buy other tools if you want or need them, or do you need to sell some of what you have to get other tools you want/need?

Answers to these questions will help us answer you.

See above.... how much do you really use the one that you have?
If not using it 24/7
My VOTE- Sell it.... there is always going to be "newer" more improved tools coming out.... look at 18v that were "new" but now are starting to become "old" and can be got decently cheap.... buy something that you are going to use other than the 2 in then kit....

My vote if you do anything with nuts & bolts- 3/8 impact

Also, remember.... Lowe's & everyone else runs sales that you can pick up in the future (and if you want to sell bits and pieces on that new kit)

Other deal.... if you let it set around its going out of warranty
