You are going to get conflicting answers on this. Sometimes the amount of light is measured in lumens per sq ft. For the sake of simplicity, assume that a 4-bulb T8 will average 11000 lumens. You have about 61 lumens PSF. Some recommend 150 lumens PSF, some have 250 lumens PSF. It depends on your needs, but measures in lumens can help you understand how much more you might want. For example, 16 or 17 total 4-bulb fixtures should give you approximately 100 lumens pst, or about 40% more light.

I also have a 32'x56'x13 shop. White metal liner on the ceiling and I have 15-8' 4 lamp T-8 fixtures. 3 rows of 5. I think I have nice light. YMMV.

I used 17 fixtures, each 8 feet long and having 4 T8 four-foot tubes, in my 24x40x12 shop. Total of 68 tubes, at 2800 lumens per tube.

960 square feet, 190,400 lumens, 198 lumens sq/ft.
Actually more like 212, since 24x40 is the outside dimension, and the inside is closer to 23x39
