How many ratchets do you own?

An old school oiler Craftsman 1/2" raised panel, both modern Craftsman and Kobalt 3/8" and 1/4" raised panels/equivalents, and an old Powr-Kraft 3/8". Oh, and a terribly cheap generic 3/8" that I'm emotionally attached to.

So seven. More than I thought.

Wait - and three in the inexpensive (gift) Crescent tool kit in a box I carry in the truck.

Ten mostly bad ratchets.

I actually like my Craftsman 1/2" oiler. Its nice and broken in and been cleaned and lubed a few times. Right now its lubed with 20W oil and has a buttery smooth feel to it.

I own:

3/8 crappy Durabuilt
1/4 crappy Durabuilt
1/4 and 3/8 no name that came with my compressor

1/4 and 3/8 Husky that came in a socket set
1/2 Husky I just bought
3/8 and 1/4 stubby Husky

3/8 Gator Grip that came with my Gator Grip

3/8 Blue Point is the nicest one ever
also have a 3/8 Blue Point small breaker bar

3/8 24" HF breaker bar, not technically a ratchet though

3/8 and 1/4 GearWrench pass through ratchets

So I basically have 13, 15 if you count the breaker bars

I'm a pro, at work I have:
8 - 1/4 rats~Snap On,Gear Wrench,SK,Titan,Craftsman
9 - 3/8 rats~Snap On, Craftsman,SK,Titan
3 - 1/2 rats~Husky(New Brittan),Matco
1 - 3/4 rat~Proto
So that would be 21.

At home I have:
5 - 1/4 rats~Craftsman,SK,Allen,Stanley,Snap On
3 - 3/8 rats~Craftsman,SK,Stanley
1 - 1/2 rat-Husky(New Brittan)
So that would be 8.

In the car I have:
1 1/4 rat~Craftsman
1 3/8 rat~Craftsman
Making that 2

So in total that would make 32.

Non Pro. I have 18 between my upstairs shop and the tractor and equipment bunker. Like someone else said, I like being able to set up several ratchets and not have to switch sockets in the middle of jobs.

Oh, and the fact that I like looking at them! I have my eye on two more right now, but don't tell Ol' Girl.

I don't believe I have ever seen photos of your collection. If you've posted to another thread, please provide a link. If not, please post photos!

Why would anyone want more than a couple?Makes no sense to me.You guys seem to have way to many ratchets.I feel deprived, anybody want to donate a couple to me so I can feel better?I don't have nearly enough.

Cause the price is right? I was looking for a single 3/8" ratchet to replace my Craftsman raised panel (anyone want that piece o junk?). Bull had an SK I wanted, but had a couple other for sale too. Of the set it turns out I like the Williams B-51 by a wide margin. It's *tiny* and has a small backswing angle despite not having a lot of teeth.

No one seems to be mentioning large ratchets i.e. 3/4 and above. How about those?

I have two 3/4 rats (Herbrand and MAC Sabina) and one 1" (Proto pebble.)

Thanks Bull, I forgot I had a C-man 3/4" raised panel ratchet. Change that count to 86-101, or maybe less. Haaaa-haaaaaaa-haaaaa.
The count does include three of the alignment type hex ratchets.

3 as well.

1/4, 3/8 and 1/2. I'd like to upgrade them at some point but everytime I go to buy a nice Hazet or Snap-on etc. I just can't justify it for the amount I use them.

The last time I counted, I have 203 plus. Not including the ones in "box sets". I have since added to this amount.

Haven't a clue...I'd guess 'six'.

They're usually spread out in a clever manner to avoid such counting. Here's the ratchets in the wood shop....

There's more in the garage and at work. I'm not an automotive mechanic but I use tools at work.

See! im not crazy. Its nice to see im in good company here. I just showed my wife this thread trying to show her at leasgt you guys could serve as the bad example. She looked at me and said "and?". I changed the subject. She never asked me how many I have, its probably for the best. I think tomarrow I will go through the thread and divide all the data into pro and diy/collector and average the two and see what we come up with. Keep it coming guys, the more data the better.

Oh and slipknot, that's were it starts. I used to think the same thing but then I needed flex heads in all sizes. Oh, and long ones and short ones and so on. Next your friends are talking about intervention.

Non pro, non collector.
I've never understood having a huge drawer of them. I do have quite a few, but 5 in the garage, 3 in the basement, 2 in the truck, 4 up north, etc.
I hate looking for them, and I hate hauling tools around, so I have a liberal sprinkling of them everywhere!:)

Former shade-tree/backyard hobbyist, now quasi-collector. Over 325 but less than 350 (I think...). Slacked off again updating the list - have @ 20 or so in various stages soaking or ready to soak, or need to be put back together. They cover roughly 90 different brandings, USA only, switch reversible square drives in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2", mostly standard length non-flex.
