I've slowed down buying but I do not sell anymore so even if I buy 5 a year the collection grows. Really need to thin the heard.

Nice to see you back. I imagine the 'herd' is quite large.

I'm thinking it could look like a solar field from a distance all laid out?

I have about 25 'keepers' but have bought and sold hundreds. Nothing like finding old abused SK and Craftsman RHFT and restoring them. Good money in it too..

Thanks!!
I'm sure it will start up again looking over all these pics of tools. All it will take is to see a new whatever is coming out and I'm in hook line and sinker. :lol_hitti

It is, SK 45174! I've used it a number of times and just swapped out the drive mechanism with the DT80 kit.

https://www.harryepstein.com/index.php/ratchets-3-8-drive-26935.html

Ahh right! That’s why it looks different from those I’ve seen!

I like metal handled ratchets, but most of the short ones are only designed to be used with one or two fingers, I like the decent length handle on that one!

I like the way they offer those upgrade kits too.

May have to add one to the collection...! Thanks for the link!

I have three el-cheapo hand ratchets in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drive sizes. I used to use them quite a lot until I got a 1/4 and 3/8 drive air ratchet.

The 1/4 drive air ratchet is great for small fasteners in tight areas. The 3/8 air ratchet is a beast and probably my favorite. That said, it is a bit heavy because of the pin clutch impact mechanism built into the handle, which makes it a bit more cumbersome, but you never slam your knuckles when running a bolt down hard.

Unfortunately, I need a new air compressor, so it is back to the hand ratchets for now.

We have about 10 in each of the shop tool boxes and service trucks. About once a year I go through the shops and trucks and pick up all of the unique ones and put them in the shop I have at home. So there is about 125 in a couple boxes there. I have another ten in common use.

So it is a little like an Easter egg hunt each year. We got another old machine or shop or stopped at an auction. Most of the places and interesting items are cleaned out before we get there but when not it is fun. Ok got a wizard here, a wards there, this looks like a C-97 and this one will have to be looked up in alloy artifacts. That was last years finds. I usually add about 3-5 a year. They get cleaned and lubed and placed in a box by size. Then about every 3 years I re-lube them so they stay functional.

I don't need anymore ratchets as one can only use one at a time. However, it's a funny thing when I see one come up on sale or someone lists a new one that I think would be neat to have or see how it would make an installation easy I buy it. This place can be quite addicting.

Ratchets in 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1” sizes, some hex drive too.

Socket sets from USA, England, Germany, Japan, Australia.

With options for each category I’m guessing 100+ would appear on parade day.

Users are Stahlwille, SO, Koken, Swench,

Ok, A buddy of mine is a Ford Tech and has been for a little over 10 years. He was giving me a hard time yesterday because I own 24 ratchets not including breaker bars or air ratchets. He only has 6 at work and 3 at home. He thinks Im nuts but I dont have a machine shop at my house (he does) so I think we all have our vices. So thats it, I wonder if Pros have more or less than just a guy who works on cars and how many you have. I bet at 24 I dont have that many.
Ayuh,.... I own 'bout a halfa dozen less than I did a year ago,.....

F*#kin' thieves,.....

This thread makes me feel better about going down the ratchet-hole a few years ago...

There are others lurking around, but this shows 2/3 of them (or so...)

With one of my last paycheques before I got married (30 yrs) I bought a Snap On 3/8 flexhead speeder ratchet. Between that and the bent handle flex head, they are the ones that get used the most.

I recently retired and made what probably will be my last new Snap On purchase - the 1/4" drive speeder flexhead to go with it. My retirement present to myself. I did manage to score a 1/4" drive ratchet and tin box from the sixties this summer from a garage sale.
