Seems like the quote I got was way out of hand. Yes, I realize there are tons of variables involved, but were you under $500, 500-1000, 1000-1500, or over 1500 for installation of your garage heater - please limit answers to heaters like the modine hot dawg.

I'm looking for a gas hds45 install and the local guy just told me 2k. That blew my mind. Am I nuts?

Keep in mind that while black pipe is rather "cheap" it can take a bunch of effort to install (if tap location is far away) compared to the newer stainless tubing which is a lot more expensive but much easier to install. As well ducting can be a bear depending our your situtation. I installed mine (HD 75k) but had quotes between $500-$800 (75' of stainless). Sooo... best comparison is to have several local contractors quote same job.

I paid $1,200 to have 2 45k units installed. They did such a terrible job that I ended up removing the units and reinstalling them myself the way I wanted them installed. The only part that I didn't redo was the venting...and both vent pipes are crooked. I should have done it myself to begin with....live and learn.
