New here, have spent the last several days drooling on my keyboard.....

Anyways, I'm looking for a decent tool box for my 2 car garage and found this one on craigslist.

I figure you guys know a heck of a lot more than I do about these and could let me know how much I should offer the guy for it? Is it a good box?

He says its well used but works fine, I still haven't been to see it.

Top box: 26" L X 19" H X 16" W
Bottom box: 41" L X 41" H X 18" W

Thoughts on a fair price and any more info about this box?

Thanks!

The picture is too small to tell anything about it.

You didn't list your location in your profile - so no way to tell what might be available in your area on Craigslist.

Thanks for the reply, I'm in North Carolina.

Here is another angle that may help.

I'd say $300 is pretty good for a 41" lower box and 26" upper, provided the drawers work, etc. $250 sounds better, I bet he'd take that since the boxes need some cosmetic cleanup etc.

If he is asking OBO, i"m sure cash could get it for 250. A lot of tool storage for that price & a good name brand to boot. Don't wait too long or it will be gone

For all three of those $300 is a good/fair deal anywhere in the US. Pay any less and it becomes a killer deal!

Oops did'nt notice that it's a single box on the bottom. Price suggestions? See above ^^^ that's a nice setup... (is the vise included?)

I have both those boxes. They get the job done but I don't really like them and am looking forward to the day I can buy a new box. I got my eye on the HF box because of the full length drawer and the cheap addons. I hope you considered that option. Also note, you can get that bottom box brand new with ball bearing slides for $350 at sears.

With that said, $300 for those boxes is an ok deal if it's what you want. You'll get more drawer space than going with just a new bottom box and you could very well make it all back if you decide to sell them.

If you go to check it out make sure you examine the slides and check for anything that is a bent. That big drawer should be at the bottom maybe he moved it for preference or maybe its because he damaged something. Pay particular attention to that drawer and the bottom ones. A good indication something is bent is if a drawer will slide in smoothly in the beginning but then become very resistant once it reaches a certain point. Check the locking mechanism actually catches all the drawers. If 1 drawer doesn't wanna lock then it's probably bent forward in the back causing the hook that drops down to fall behind the drawer. It's easy to bend it back. Also check the casters. If the box has been dragged around then they'll be chips in the casters which prevent the box from sitting level or at the very least make it a pain to roll around. A new set will probably cost you 40 bucks at home depot.

Lastly, if you buy a used box. Take out the bottom drawer and have a look around. There's a good chance it's carrying around some hidden treasures.

Called this morning and it was sold last night. That's what I get for trying to talk myself out of it instead of calling when I found it! Thanks for all the quick responses anyways!
