How much is a used classic 78 tool box worth?

I've had my snap on classic 78 tool box for about a year now, and I now want to sell it. I bought the box new and its still in great condition. The box is flat black and it looks great, I just don't need such a big box. How much do you think its worth, and do you think Snap on or Matco would buy it from me?

Ive seen them sell between $1000-2500. Just really depends. I've got a 78 for home which I paid $1800 for (guy got it new, never used it), and I picked up another 78 for $1100 to use as a trade in for a bigger box.

I bought mine for $700 but that's probably a one time deal. Around here they go for $1300-2500 with 2500 not being that great of a deal.

I sold one with a crumpled side (still worked fine) for $1350

They start out around $2500-$3500 asking on craigsliat around here, and spend months dropping the price weekly. I'd say $1500 would sell quickly, asking $2000 would net top dollar quickly.

I wouldnt pay over 1200 for a used one. Felt a few on the truck wouldnt be happy if I boight it new.

bought mine brand new a month ago with a student discount for 2250, and got a $400 snappy gift card along with it. but i see them on craigslist for anywhere between 1800-3000, they are all on there for months, if you found a right buyer i could see $1500 for it. one thing about buying snap on, is you either keep it a lifetime or trade it into the truck for an upgrade.

You'll get more out of it on a trade in.

...but you'll likely pay more for the new box that you're buying then you would without the trade.
