I know it's older and superseded but a newer model but I don't know that part number. I've been looking for a good multimeter than wont break the bank but quality is still critical. The seller is asking 200 for the one below which seems high but I know there is a lot of room for negotiating especially since I've bought stuff from him before. It looks like a I can get a used Fluke 88 or 88v for ~200 though. What's a fair price for this? What's a price to good to pass up? Thanks for your help.

Based on a quick search ~$70 without box, ~$100 with box. Give or take a bit, but those are about average SELLING prices.

Too goo to pass up? $50 or less :dunno: Depends on the persons need for it.

What are they asking for that one?

He was asking 200 but he was going off the newer version with an msrp for 5-600.

Most of Snap-Ons meters and accessories are made by TPI (South Korea). Good unit but under the SO name they're massively overpriced. Fluke is the benchmark by which most others are judged and if you watch ebay for a little you should be able to snag an 88V for about $100-$140. Plus with fluke you get the support. There are tons of accessories and repair parts floating around, even for models made 20 years ago.

$200 isnt a bad price. Looks in great condition and has nice box. The meter does tempeture and rpm so great features to have. If u need it ask him if he will take $140 for it. If not pay full price. They are good meters and your going to get more features then a fluke 88 or 87 will give u.

I see were you got it from. Look at the sold section to see what I'm talking about price wise.

Looks like it can be had much cheaper but most don't come with the the case or as many accessories. I was really only interested because I bought a set of brake tools from him and thought I could combine the shipping and talk him down in price and we could make a deal. Oh well the search continues.

It may be worth it if it does everything YOU need it to. If you can get him down to $150 or less and then combine shipping with your other purchase. The ones selling for cheap do not have all the accy's or case. And not in as good of shape. You will be getting a lot of meter for the money. Don't get hung up on having to have a fluke. Other meters will work for what your needs are. In the other thread you said you needed a good automotive meter that won't break the bank. Well I think you found it. Remember guys on this forum think EVERYTHING can and should be found cheaper.

You'll be thanking yourself later by getting the Fluke 88. It's nice to be able to measure RPM and the product support from Fluke is second to none.

Get the snap on. It's a great meter. Does everything you need and you can get it a fraction of what it cost new. And it looks new as well.

I picked up an eedm596 for $200 that was practically brand new. Came with all the accessories and case. Good meter that does its job

I prefer Fluke for DMMs.

If you do purchase the Snap-On unit above, I would highly recommend a better test lead set.
