Put it on Ebay. The top box is very rare. To the right person it's worth a good chuck. On CL might get $300.

So ask $800 CAD, equivalent to about $500 US would not be out of line? Also no one has chimed in on Husky boxes. Reviews I've read seem to be good.

I have an older series 41" red Husky set. My wife actually bought it for me as a surprise gift because she knew I was shopping for a new tool box. Its held up very well.
That being said if I didnt own it I would buy a HF box. Theyre deeper, powder coated and to be honest I think theyre pretty decent for the price.
Not sure if you have HF stores in your neck of the woods though.

In 25 more years that one will look about the same, the one you're thinking about replacing it with will probably already be melted down into another. Just a thought.

Worth about $125 delivered to my door.

And in seriousness (though I was being serious) I would think it is about location. In Grand Rapids, Michigan that box wouldn't last but a few weeks on Craigslist at $500-800.

I wonder though why you would want to sell that old solid set out. Unless it is to get a larger or smaller setup.

Also according to https://www.xe.com
500 USD = 671.633 Cad
and
800 CAD = 595.599 USD

So if you do talk yourself into selling that great old steel I would start at 800 Cad minimum.

Or 1000 Cad with a Make Offer statement. You can always drop your price in negotiation. People tend to get weird when you try raising your price while bartering.

Well ya It's served me well and I have taken care of it. I bought the box new when I first started out and has served me well but the drawer layout ***** IMO.

Also I could use a bigger box to spread my tools out better in a drawer and not stacked up on each other, and better ball bearing slides. I know I'm basically trading in good quality for cheaper quality but I'm not sure I will never out live this bigger box. Here it is again in case you missed it.

Local craiglist has this setup listed for $1450. Yours is probably worth about half.

Not a lot of choices for new cheaper boxes in Canada. Husky at HD, Craftsman at Lowes and Mastercraft and Maximum at Canadian Tire. Not sure what is better.

My Snap On 26" top and bottom is about 25 years old and in good condition. Has friction slides. Not sure of the model # yet since I haven't moved it.
Would like to know in CAD$ how much I could get for it.

Also what are your opinions on HD Husky boxes? Thinking of going to this to replace the SO box. Will be for home use.

I think you’re going to get around $500 USD for that box sold locally being that it’s a Snap On and in good shape. I’d list it for a little more in the hope for getting more but expecting to be negotiated down to that range. The fact that it’s a 26” box really works against you when larger import boxes like Husky are cheap and available

I brought the 36x24 Husky last year to replace my overloaded HF tool cart and I have been very pleased with it. As long as you don’t go slamming drawers around and overloading drawers the Husky and similar aren’t bad at all. Mine serves as a tool cart in a heavy equipment shop and holds most of what I need on a daily basis

Owning a Heritage Series Snap-On (Snap-on's budget line) and a 3 year old Husky, I think you'll be disappointed with the Husky in comparison to your older Snap-On. After looking at a lot of tool boxes when I was shopping for the Husky, if I had it to do over again today, though I like my Husky, I'd probably find a way to go with a USGeneral from Harbor Freight. I know you are in Canada, so might take a little more work to get it, but I think they really are the best bang-for-your-buck option.

I feel I am losing a small part of myself by posting this but there is a Harbor Freight roughly 200km from Fredericton, New Brunswick in Presque Isle, Maine

Sounds like a lot of fukkin around for a sideways trade. Already got the box, already own it, doesn't bother me to pile a few tools in some drawers.

I agree. I got a black 41 (I believe) used, and it's pretty flimsy compared to my HF 44". However, they were able to get my slides for it, and for cheap it works great for another bench and lots of overflow from my main box. I do have some of the drawers heavily loaded down and enjoy the two thick bottoms for all my blow molded cases (could use a few more of those).

Those boxes were only offered (or at least intended to be offered) to the Canadian and Euro market. Now a days those boxes have a very, very, very niche market.

I'd buy harbor freight before I bought that Husky.

Edit, Beach made a top box like that. For some reason the Canadian and euro markets seemed to favor the mix of small drawers.

I’ll chime in to say that I have that Husky you’re looking at. I think it’s great for stationary home use. I actually bought for my main work box when I built automated machinery.
