How much is this ratchet worth?

I won this auction a while back for a matco 1/2" drive ratchet. Due to it's supposed shipment to another country and supposed return, I've been refunded payment and asked if I want to buy it again.

Anyways, how much is it worth?

Worth is in the eye of the beholder but, I would say no more than $10 but, that's just me and I think it looks like an older Blackhawk or New Britain type ratchet. Matco came out in the 1970"s

That ratchet is from the days when Wright was making ratchets for Matco. It's a good ratchet, but I don't think it's worth the $24 they're asking ... especially since you can buy a Wright with the modern contour handle.

I was stumped too when I saw it, I thought like Fedwrench that it was a Blackhawk.
I think Merkava is right an old wright ratchet, I would think a good price would be about $15.00 dollars.
Listen to Merkava and pick up a new modern wright contour handle.

Yeah, I bought it because I was getting free shipping with a SO wrench and I have a set of older (probably New Britain) ratchets that it would complete.

Today, I found this ratchet in a cabinet that hasn't been cleaned out in ages along with a bunch of wrenches that had been long given up for dead and since replaced. All I can say is it's worth it's weight in drop-forged steel, but not much more.

It is a ratchet made by New Britain for MATCO in the 70's. $10-15 wouldn't be a bad price for it, it looks to be in good shape.

That's a New Britain sourced ratchet (at least it's the New Britain Kilness patent design), the Wright sourced ones had the polished contour handle and a larger Wright-type diameter head.

Personally, I wouldn't pay that much for one (the auction price), but I'm also a cheap s.o.b. :spit: IMHO, "worth" is one of two things, either the maximum amount someone's willing to pay for it, or the minimum you'll accept to get rid of it. How you go about determining those values is the real challenge, which typically differ (sometimes wildly) for most everyone.

How's that for stating the obvious? :lol_hitti

I'll be the third ratchet collector in a row stating New Britain design.Nice ratchets but there are so many versions of the same one floating around that if your not hung up on the Matco name you can find the same thing for $10-$15 or less.
