Found this Reed vise. The guy wants a premium for it. What is a fair price? He would not take $2 per pound.

NO, don't pay more than $2 a pound for a large vise. Can't believe you are having so much trouble finding a good one. Probably like anything else - as soon as you buy one, you'll be tripping over them.

The seller does seem to want too much for that vise @ $175. It is a great vise with the newer Reed logo on it. Check out CL in Crystal River/Ocala There is a big vise for $65 manufactured in Erie, Pa. was listed on the 20th.....If it is a Reed, its worth driving there.

I assumed you live in Jacksonville so that is my CL search center.

I'm confused. I thought the Reed 104 had the 4 hole stationary base? The 204 is the swivel. The buyer got this one for a steal $76 on Ebay

The one I'm crystal river is sold. If I had to drive from from Jacksonville to crystal river it would cost me $100 in gas. I drive a truck and its a pig.

I've actually got a call into that guy about picking up that vise in Dallas. I really wasn't even looking at old vises anymore ( had decided to buy new) but as long as no big cracks and jaws close decent, I think I'll take it.

It seems like the newer Reeds sort of did the Wilton thing....just add an "S" to the number and call it a swivel base.
The Dallas vise looks to be a nice one. Maybe no one in Texas is buying it because "everything is bigger in Texas" and they all want 6" vises.
