On the local Craigslist someone is selling this Homak toolbox for $250. What is a reasonable price for it?

$250????? :scared: That thing better be full of some very high quality tools.

For just the box itself; $50, if that. Personally I wouldn't even mess with it. I think you will find the quality to be frustrating at best. Good quality tool boxes are actually more space conscious as you can fit more weight into each drawer, minimizing the number of drawers you need.

Edit, just found the ad... The seller is dreaming and obvisouly not in touch with the used market. If you are looking for a good box, this is a good deal (I think)

Homak, $50 at best. Looks like it was smashed on the left corner so $50 may be too much.

I've bought and sold too many 26" boxes. A top box like that will go for about $45 max, if it was in mint condition, had more drawers or was a better brand like SPG or Craftsman a top box can go for as much as $100.

The bottom box is worth maybe $90. A top of the line bottom box (that would be same caliber as the $100 top box) could bring $200.

All these prices would be fair for the buyer and seller, these aren't you **** deals! Truck brands could be worth a fair bit more too, although not many of the newer ones are 26". The Matco linked to in this post seems a tad pricey, but it is a truck brand and has tons of drawers, so it's not that crazy of an asking price
