I would not be buying Snap On stock these days. I think there are some warning signs on the horizon and it's not all from HF.
Where am I wrong??

If Snap on continues to muddy up some of there product line with Overseas products along with stamp there name on Costco pressure washers this is the opportune time to buy there stock. This means more money in there pocket, which relays to bigger dividends paid to its stockholders. Ive seen many companies do this over the years and Snap on has and will continue to have large following of customers who buy there tools based on there Name alone. It will eventually come to a head and hurt them but it will take many years, So get in while the getting is good.

This really makes me sad when i go back and read it, but its a proven strategy and Snap On isnt the first company to try it by far.

You buy what you can afford. If I were so hung up on having brand name tools, I would not have what I have now. All I see on this site is a bunch of show-off little boys having a ******* contest, It makes me sick:puke:. Come back to the real world, Join in on reality for a little bit. Some people actually use their tools and get them dirty, All I see here is how neatly my tools fit in a draw and how ****** shiny they are, It's all **** factor if you want my opinion. So now you can get on here and let me have it.Well go for it, I'm sure there are many people that agree with me.

Not anymore. I don't need to be shouted at. But thanks anyway! :lol_hitti

What is hurting this,SO,etc... are present times, If these were "regular" times, I would have already contacted Chadster, and paid for the big box of Snap-on items I have on my list, same for other vendors. Heck, I have/had credit cards with high limits on them, but cut them up, too afraid to spend, and know ends are not meeting easy.

Current times will stifle sales in all categories, sales will exist, but not at the regular level. I bet Snap-on's Blue Point line is selling well? Bad times, less spending, at least for the ones that know affording things are getting tough.

I have not bought anything from Harbor freight lately either, whether it is cheap, or expensive, excess spending is off limits for these times. If i already have something that will do the job, that is what I use, period.

I doubt HF has taken away anything from Snap on, maybe Craftsman and others like them.

Thats like asking if Kia has taken away from porsche's market. Is this a serious question?

I will tell what I saw this week. Needed a cheap 3/8" torque wrench ($17), so into HF I go. While I'm looking I see a young mechanic wearing a name brand Tire Store uniform, it was dirty so you could tell he'd been working, pick up a HF socket set and head out the door. Thats one sale SO didn't make that day, I'm sure his shop is serviced by the SO truck as there are two in town. In all fairness he probably will buy SO tools down the road when he makes more money but today HF got the sale.

I doubt SO Taiwan mechanisms (if that's where SO sources them) = HF mechanisms. Same country, perhaps, but I'd bet miles apart in quality.

Could very well be. HF ones looks unfinished but HF Taiwan stuff supposely pretty decent and made in the same factory as another Taiwanese brand (Genius? Toptul?) I can't imagine they would order separate stock for HF stuff. But if they turn out to be vastly inferior, I'd cry less over $29.

Why do you think you'd have warranty issues with Armstrong?

I haven't found an Armstrong dealer around my area. As a weekender supporting my daily driver, if I broke a tool in the middle of a job I'd be SOL. Mailing for warranty would mean being w/o a car til Armstrong mails me back a replacement.

I am hoping that not all people here are so childlike and actually have something useful to post. IS THIS POSSIABLE.??

Not me. I just like to buy a lot of shiny chrome and not even my industrial black oxide stuff has a scratch. Why use your tools? They're only going to get dirty.

Thats why I use someone else's tools, :lol_hitti Seriously I just clean my tools when they are done and they look clean and if I have to take a 1/2hour to clean them then so be it. I hate dirty tools more than anything because you never know when and where you will have to use them, the dirty car and the clean kitchen or on the new carpet.

That's why you maintain 2 complete sets. You have your premium name brand stuff prominently displayed in your name brand rollaway. You have sunglasses close bye from the glistening chrome when you pull open a drawer.

Your second set is HF, Sears or other hand me downs. These are the tools you use for everyday tasks when there's potential for them to get dirty or scratched.:)
