How much to build this?

I am looking to build a garage w/ living area to put on my property until I'm ready to build a house. I kinda like this one but wish it was a little bigger. Any help would be appreciated.

It depends a lot on where you live. If you live near any of the coasts, double the price you would pay in the center of the US.

Not near the coast! Not in the city! I have 7 acres in a rural area in Louisiana. Also, I am thinking of trying to make this into a 3 car garage.

You can talk to a experienced builder or a good real estate agent and he can give you a loose guideline as to what the per square foot average building cost is in your area.
Rural areas may be $55 to $65 a square foot and a lot of areas $350 a foot.
This cost would generally be less landscaping, driveway,sidewalk,utilities,and lot purchase.

So a 40 X 40 garage would cost $400,000? This is quite a bit more than the price of my house and a bit smaller? Is the price of 200 -250 a sq ft because of the fancy design?

Not counting any land cost $100k. Assuming you are not wanting high end fixtures, windows, etc. This is assuming you are the GC and sub everything out. Looks like a total of 1900sqft. Just a off the wall guess based on GA pricing.

I live in NE Ohio. We have a brand new house cost $100 square foot to build with a 8 foot basement and 2 car garage on almost an acre

It's going to take more than a simple picture to figure the cost for you. There's alot of factors involved, including outside finish, how nice you want it on the inside, where you live, and how of the work you can do yourself.
