Have you drained or bled-of from your compressor? I re-located my compressor into it's new home (an abandoned water heater shed outside of my shop). Prior to moving and while purchasing the new fittings, etc. as necessary to plumb, I found a new drain petcock. My original had long since been broken. Obviously, and as part of the petcock replacement procedure, the old broken petcock was removed. Here's the great part.....Had probably been 5 years since last drained. That drain expelled at least 2 -3 gallons of water. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. Moral of the story. Don't wait 5 years in between drainings.

I would speculate that it matters how large your compressor tank is. For me, I have a ten gallon tank, and am able to decompress frequently. I've never had more than a couple ounces of H2O come out at most. Most guys with larger setups leave the air in the tank compressed, which could be potentially a LOT of H2O drainage...

A factory I worked in a guy finally noticed the compressor was running almost all the time. Probably had a 100 gallon tank. I emptied about 80 gallons of water out if it. The alky who was supposed to do it never bothered. Ironically, we built refrigerated air dryers and timed drains, but they never put a timed drain on the compressor tank.
