How much is this thing new? I don't know the part number or anything but it looks bigger than the 53" heritage snap on box I can get for 1400 with my student discount. The only things that are making me nervous are 1. we don't really have a cornwell dealer around here and 2. yellow is a hard color to resell

Don't jump on it. It won't sell off Craigslist anytime soon. The side box doesn't match, and that would make me mad.

Truthfully it doesn't look bigger than the 53", even with the side...maybe but it'd be close. Just ask him to measure. Personally I'd get the new box for less money if that's what you choose to spend your cash on. Besides that, selling the Snap On would be easier.

All that said, I wouldn't spend that kind of scratch on tool storage

You can get heritage for $1400? I wouldn't even question it man. Now a heritage isn't a top of the line box only being 120lbs slides and it's only 20" deep but its still a good smaller start box. Check out stricklytoolboxes.com < they have decent boxes. I'm trying to decide to get their Toolvault 72" 30" deep or get a KRL722 with top hutch (for $1500 more). I'd personally go with the heritage but do look around more. There's other brands than just the tool guys.

Does that drawer layout work for you? I don't like it, I'd rather see more drawers, the depth of those seems too deep for most stuff.

The box is 58" or so wide and 24" deep so yes it is bigger then a 53" kra. The side box I would guess is for a 40" combo I'd guess its only 18" deep. Price isn't bad, but I don't know if it excites me. Cornwell redesigned their boxes a few years back so that box is probably 5 years old at the newest.

I wouldn't buy it because I don't like yellow but that's probably a good price on a good box. You could sell the side box for 300 or so and at some point add the top box.

It's a pretty good price if it's the box you're looking for. It's not so good of a deal to jump on it unless you really like it.

I wouldn't buy it because cornwell changes toolbox suppliers more then they change their underwear. That box isn't supported by them anymore. So repair parts are no go. If you like yellow go beat the guy up. Can probably get if for $1000 cash.

^ ^ ^ This. If you just love Yellow, then it might be your box but beat him down on price due to mismatched pieces & lack of dealer support.

Surely you've seen some other boxes on CL from post-Xmas distress from someone needing money. That yellow box fits that bill, so there's bargain room to drive down price.

Picture below for posterity.

I have that box except with the matching top. I paid $2300 and it was brand new(never had a tool in it). The guy won it in a contest from his employer, and he was already outfitted. Its a great box although I think his asking price is a little high, but he might just be compensating for the inevitable haggle that is going to come. I do the same thing.

scratch that. I just noticed it only has 4 casters. Mine has 6. I have another blue one like that but it only has 4 casters. Its still a good box, but it is definitely lighter than my 6 caster box.

hmmm, the vintage might be somewhere between the 2 which could explain why it looks like both.

The blue ones for sale if you are interested. It has a hutch and top locker for storing things. Just PM if you are

Don't buy a Cornwell box. They switch tool box suppliers too often and when they do, there's no support for the old boxes. I have a 60 inch Kennedy made Cornwell top and bottom with end cab from like 2002 and I can't get parts for it if I needed them. Cornwell is a nice tool company but, they don't make their tool boxes.
