How often do you use large wrenches and sockets?

I use 22mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm and 32mm on motorcycles. I use chrome sockets. I have the wrenches also but in hindsight they are really not needed for my use, other than the 22mm.

1 1/8" for some tractor stuff, and 34mm (together with a castle nut wrench) for an ER collet on my mill/drill. Otherwise, hardly any "big" stuff.

I don’t use my large 3/4” stuff as much as I used to but still several times a month.

Last night for example I used my 3/4” drive Proto torque wrench, socket, extension and ratchet to install tires/wheels on the coach.

Last week I used large stuff to help neighbor with his skid steer so it varies week to week, day to day but glad to have the large stuff for when it’s needed.

It's something that may be worth having but for lots it doesn't need to be a deep investment. I can go a long time between uses sometimes and lots of it 1 off. Used a 3/4 drive for loosening 2 nuts the other day, it was close at hand. Put it back with a common wrench.

for me not very often but when you need them (on an auto repair for instance) you need them

I replumbed my house and got rid of all the Galvanized so that eliminates a bunch of need.

My set runs up to 36mm for normal work, but just yesterday I discovered I need a 46mm socket for an oil filter housing bolt.

You never know what you'll run into.

Another one where the conversion is so close they can easily swap 46mm is 1 13/16

Ya I had a Dodge Ram the spindle nut was 1 -11/16 or 43mm depends who ya ask ;)

I actually got away with using a 1 3/4" socket the first time around not knowing better...was 1.5mm oversized

Ya getting 1/2" sq drive in the larger sizes can take some effort. The largest I have are 1-1/2" and 38mm in a 1/2" both 6 point deep impacts.

Anything larger for me is just 3/4" drive. Obviously they are much easier to be found on the shelf though most shallow chrome are like 12 point :dunno: but some places do have both

But depending on the application the overall dia of thicker wall impact socket can possibly be an issue too.

For the most part using an 1/2 to 3/4 adapter on a high torque impact or breaker doesn't seem to be any real problem

I use all the way up to 2 3/4 on a daily basis, if i dont use anything over 1” or 24mm in a day then I either wasnt working or had an easy day lol. If you only work on cars, 38mm is probably the limit. Once you get into trucks and equipment 2” is like the minimum for a complete tool set.
