How old is this $35 Craftsman Box

A local pawn shop just got in a bottom box like that last week. No price. I asked - nobody could tell me.
This week it's on the main floor, freshly (and poorly) spray painted with red. And a price tag of $59.99.

That's a good deal but not Earth shattering. The roller dates to the mid 1950s and the machinist chest is a Kennedy 520 series and could span the entirety of the Heritage era (1948-62)

Personally, I think the Craftsman 520 is worth $35, because you don't see many with the front door still there, and from that early era. The bottom is ok, because IIRC they are not a standard width, so need the matching top box.

Can never have too many...I'd have that in my shop if I was closer too!! Probably built better than most new $150 boxes.

Everyone around here thinks all toolbox's are worth new Snap-On money. It's ridiculous.

That's a transition year box - red with gray drawers and the Craftsman "chevron" logo used on gray & red boxes throughout the 1960s/70s. I'd be all over it for half the asking price ...

Ah, okay. I didn't realize that box was more stout than the usual red and black box.
