How old is this craftsman set?

I've had this set for probably 30 years. Bought it at a swap meet when I was a kid. I used it for years in the shop and eventually upgraded my tool sets working on cars.

I keep this in the basement on the reloading bench. I know it's older, just wasn't sure how old. A couple of the snap on misc sockets were dated 1947,48, 51 and the one craftsman socket is what I assume older than the rest. Don't think I've ever seen this logo on hand tools before, just shop equipment.

The set all has this style logo

This is the one that has a different logo than the rest of the set.

Nice little set!
The ratchet, case n breaker bar date to late 40's to mid 50's.
The odd socket is older mid 30's to mid 40's.

The DARK philips socket is an apex with changeable bits. never seen one quite like that one

I have the same set. My grandfather bought it new after returning from European battlefields which was sometime in 1946. Mine are all marked with circle H and mine has the open style ratchet. Everything in my set has the C in Craftsman underlining the entire word.

Your set is from the 1950s when the set was revised with the closed ratchet, no underline C in Craftsman, etc. The one odd ball underline socket was just thrown in your set by someone.

I have same set, which was my fathers. I remember him having it as far back as late 50's. No idea how long he had it before that.

Those tapered socket are right about 1947 or so. They were (I believe) the first Moore Drop Forge V series sets. They are fairly hard to find especially a complete set. There are nine sockets in the set, two of which are eight point. (1/4 & 5/16)

I dig around for those ratchets at the flea market. All ya have to do is find the right deal. Once I find some, they go in the parts/rebuild kit drawer.
