I have an old B & D drill that I would like get more information about it. It was in my grandfather tool shed. Can you tell me the year it was made and is it missing a handle.

Here is an image showing a cut-away drawing of a drill similar to yours, taken from a 1923 B&D catalog on the Internet Archive site.

This might be your model. It also has a 1/2" capacity chuck. It looks like the D handle has been removed from your drill.

They were Very Expensive, back in the day. An inflation calculator says that would be $1,867 in today's dollars.

Thank for the information. Do you know what the type H stands for?
Is there a site for serial numbers years of manufacture?

They didn't mention H in the description, so I don't know. It looks like yours might have had a newer chuck installed at some point, or it is just a newer version than the one shown in that catalog.

You could post it in the vintage drill thread and maybe Antique Ben will have some information for you.
