Recently cleaned out an old filling station that was opened in 1912 and closed in 1961. Behind a wall I found a 1/4 Craftsman ratchet, 9 sockets two extensions and small breaker bar. The Craftsman logo is most unusual and the ratchet is quite primitive. It's marked with an 'H" The top and bottom plates are riveted together.
The tools are in wonderful condition even the checkering on the handle is flawless. How can I determine their age and their value. This is my first post.

Tin box is gray with faded reddish orange lettering, "Warranteed Highest Quality"

Thanks..There appears to be a sticky substance on the "T" bar. Feels like cosmoline. It's not rust. How can I determine it's value...I thought about putting them on Ebay. Is that a good place?

Craftsman H-circle tools were made by New Britain and were sold by Sears from about 1931-1947.

If you want some pricing suggestions send a PM to GJ member "Tool Pants". He can probably get you in the ball park based on ebay, pawn shop, flea market, and swap meet sales values.

put it on ebay and let it fly..........when you have a set listed, people are much more willing to bid higher than if you just had a single ratchet.and the metal case just makes it irresistable.

if you list it,let us know what it sold for:)

I've been a tech since 1964. My dad didn't have a set that old. Take it to Sears and tell them you want a new ratchet just like this, lol
