For *screw* bits, apex all the way.

For drill bits, ehhh. They are somewhat disposable items for me...
Just short of the Hilti bits for my 2 Hammer Drills....don't really splurge on bits.

Was in a bind today and needed a 5/16" Masonary bit. Did not feel like splurging on the Hilti and was just browsing the local drill bit selection.

Picked up a Miulwaukee set - MADE in Germany for around $18. Seemed like fair price...as it had two 1/4" bits and 3 sided face.

most of the drill bits i own have been around for 30+ years. i filled my drill index up when i let my job as a machinist, and still have most of the same bits.
i do use a lot of 1/8" bits, hansen seem to be holding up pretty well, i stay away from really low priced bits, and shy away from the top dollar ones too.

learning how to sharpen a bit properly is the key.
