How should I terminate this shoe molding?

We got our floors refinished and added some as well. This pic is how I terminated the end of the shoe molding at the transition to the carpet. My wife doesn't really like it and I think it could look better as well. Do any of you have any ideas?

I glue my returns now rather than chance splitting the wood with a nail. Tho I have since picked up a 23 gauge pin nailer that would probably work. If you're doing a lot of baseboard and other detail work a 23G pinner will save a lot of filling nail holes.

Glue and use some painters tape to hold it on while the glue dries.

a sanded end to match profile of the trans strip would look the best and is quick with no joint knock off. mini grinder and some finer sandpaper done!!!

That looks ******* anyway you terminate. The shoe mould should encircle the whole skirting board of the door opening.

and the carpet end to wood floor needs a cover strip.

I would terminate it in the crux of the post and baseboard trim on the wall. Don't bother wrapping it around.

I would do that, but then the shoe molding would look like its floating 1/2" or so above the carpet.

I would terminate the shoe molding back in the corner and then caulk any crack between the base and the wood, totally leaving it off of the boxed base. The shoe molding doesn't look correct going around the way you have it.
