How Smooth for RaceDeck?

The concrete guys were pretty rough in my neighborhood. Mostly spec homes. I’m considering racedeck type flooring for my basement shop. Overall the floor is fairly flat, but it is not very smooth. There is even a section where it looks like it was covered in plastic that then blew. Now there are these long maybe 1/16” lines across the floor in the shape of the plastic folds.

So how flat (or smooth) does it need to be? Am I looking at trying to correct these areas?

Not particularly smooth at all, actually. Flat is all that matters.

Just make sure you put down some landscape fabric underneath it to eliminate the "clicking" when you walk across it.

Yeah, smooth is not really a problem, being flat is a good thing though. I didn't put down landscape fabric in my garage, but the "clicking" sound does not bother me. Maybe I am used to it, or maybe my hearing is not as good as it once was, but in any case the little "clicking" sound is not an issue for me. Apparently it is a problem for some members here, so having landscape fabric laid down before installing the tiles is a good idea if you want to prevent any "clicking" sounds.

You don't need anything real thick or fancy...just the cheapest stuff at the box stores should be fine.

The RaceDeck that I installed in my garage made some clicking noise, not objectionable, at first. It seems that the tiles "took a set" to the floor and the clicking went away. No landscaping cloth under my Free Flow as I thought the cloth may defeat the purpose of the tiles slotted design. Love my RaceDeck. CJDave,

RaceDeck is designed to go over unsightly concrete surfaces ( failed epoxy, staind, cracked, rough, etc.) Racedeck will also work great on floors that have slightly uneven slabs from settling and sloped floors.

Thanks for all of the replies. Being in the basement and the roughness has me shying away from epoxy so that really helps.
