So, Oddly enough I'm wondering how thick the average shop/garage floor is and how it's built.

My dads shop has a bit over 8" thick concrete with rebar and mesh, with large, 4ftx12ftx4ft footings that the posts are sunk into.

How's everyone elses constructed?

Well I can measure the depth of the floor in my extensions with the pit so I am close to 6 inches. That would not be through out the whole floor but where it has too be the strongest it would be that or more. Rebar and mesh on top of the plastic moisture barrier and then under that is crushed rock and in some places the floor has been well built up.
