How To Attach Lights To 4 Post Lift

As some may know, a friend got me a bunch of Phillips LED fixtures. They're 120V, enclosed, and have an adjustable base to adjust the direction of light.

I set them up, using the "troughs" on each runway of my HD9. They are simply placed into the troughs. However, when I want to use the jacking trays....I have to lift the lights out and lay them on the actual runways. Problem here is that they get knocked down, fall, etc. Plus, I need to store the jack trays off the lift, etc. It's all just a PITA.

A friend suggested some 3M VHB tape. Cleaned everything thoroughly..after a day or two...they fall off. Tried the 3M emblem/molding tape. Despite a several day test...once they were all put up...one warm day and they fall off.

The lights do have holes on the back that would accept a 8-32 bolt, so I'm wondering if it would be safe to drill the holes (24 per side) to accommodate the 8-32 bolts. The holes would be on the vertical side of the runways, above the trough.

I do need the lights to be removable in case one fails, gets broken...so most thoughts I have for something like Liquid Nails or similar probably isn't a good idea.

Am I safe to drill small holes in the runways or should I be considering something different? I should add that I could only use the two lower holes on each light once installed.

Thank you!

Off Topic Alert....my wife commented that I must be mad about the tape, time and expense of having these two failed attempts. I was reminded of Thomas Edison when asked about the number or experiments done before having a successful light bulb design. Edison responded that he had thousands of experiments. The interviewer suggested these were all failures. Edison said, that they weren't failures...he know nows for certain that these ideas don't work.

I wouldn'T be worried about the small hole.

But if you are: just find a screwable magnet and screw them to the light

Or even better : simply epoxy earth magnet to each end of the light. (You can get a bunch of earth magnet on ebay for not much money.(That's what I would do)

That....

Magnets can1 be found at the big box stores for cheap too. The HD has them in the fastener aisle with holes too.

Magnets...why didn't I think of that?! Great idea guys!

I took a look at HD's site and see the ones with holes. Can't tell if they have a recessed area for the head of a bolt, etc...Not sure how I'd attach short of an epoxy or similar. May have to experiment with this...
