How to clean the crud on this?

Ok, I know this is not the old woodworking tool forum. But this old table saw was my grandfathers, then my fathers, and now in my hands. I'm going to use it in my workshop above the garage space. It still cuts good! However, I would like to clean it up a bit as you can see there is some sort of gunk, oil, shellack, something that spilled down on it many years ago. Tried simple green but that seems to not work. Sprayed a bit of gunk on a rag and rubbed on it a bit with no real success.

Any ideas?

maybe some rubbing compound?
Paint thinner?
Paint thinner should not bother/remove the paint, but lacquer thinner might.

dampen rag in gas and wipe it down. cheapest easiest way i know of. and shouldn't damage the paint.

Super Clean the best degreaser I have tried. Pretty strong so maybe test a hidden area to make sure it wont harm paint.

You would be amazed at what Simple Green can do for grease.

If it is greasy,oily crud I have had good luck using really hot water with Dawn dish washing liquid and a scrub brush.
