Does anyone know how to secure the big clamp?

It doesn't have the square tab you squeeze with a plier.

Do you need to peen down the little hook after you clasp it?

also for the small one how tight do you set it before you squeeze the square tab?

Thanks

I got it from the volvo dealer but should be same as ford or Mazda boot kit
Comes with Ford grease.
Has 2 boots and 4 clamps. 3 clamps have the squeeze tab. I may go to the store to get the squeeze type if I can’t figure it out.

This clamp has the number 91 I assume millimeter size

so thanks for the tool tip...
it's called earless clamp and you squeeze like this picture ? (from the lisle website)

Wow, haven't seen those clamps in years.... We used to stock the Lisle pliers for those, I think they are called Oetiker clamps....

Oetiker 91 is printed on this clamp, but the other outboard with the squeezer is Oetiker 95 so they must make both styles.

Somebody who serviced my Mustang must not have had that tool, because both boots on the steering rack were being "retained" with zip ties. Needless to say, the boots were not secured.

I wound up using a couple of narrow stainless hose clamps (worm gear type) since I could install them without having to remove the boot fully. Have held up great for over a year.

Years?

They're all over the place on cv shafts, prop shaft boots, and under the hood on euro vehicles.

Those Lisle pliers are junk. Strongly urge anyone to get a style that closes with a screw. KTC and Hazet makes them and I think there is a knock-off of the Hazet. The clamps need to be very tight (literally air tight).
