I used to be able to embed youtube videos on here but I was trying to this morning and couldn't get it to work. I went to youtube and clicked on embed and copy and pasted that code to the post and when I clicked preview post it just showed a blank spot. What am I doing wrong here?

Embedding, as in making the video playable on the forum post itself. You cant do it on this forum and im glad.

The BBQ forum you can, and there is a thread of music videos, and holy **** it lags eveything down trying to load 50 videos at the same time.

So embed is when the vid is actually on this page, not just the link?

Thanks for the responses before the thread got moved to the land that no one reads!

I've never had a problem loading pages with them. I didn't think it "loaded" the video until you click on it. If we can't embed them I guess I'll just do the link then.

Thanks again.

I believe you can embed them in some of the GJ forums, and can not in others. I have no idea why this is. But it might lead people to think they could do it one day, and not the next.

Of course, that could also be out-of-date information.

Yep. I just tested it. Signcrafter's code worked fine in the General Discussion forum. But it did not work for me in the Garage Gallery forum.

I think it's always been this way.

Yes - and I'm glad too. - I'm not too sure about the lag thing, but directly embedded vids belong in highly specialised forums where they are useful to illustrate concise and specific points or techniques.

On more general forums, posters tend to use them as quick way to make a point or share an experience of something they've seen. Often they turn out to have been poorly chosen, irrelevant, or just not worth watching so they are a very inefficient use of bandwidth.
