How to find a good epoxy contractor

One last question before I turn in (and maybe this is kind of a dumb one)...

What's the best way to find a contractor to apply an epoxy floor? I'll ask my slab contractor for recommendations the next time I see him but it seems like such a specialized trade that there probably aren't too many concrete floor coating guys around. Guess I'll start trolling through the yellow pages tomorrow.

Normally I'd go the DIY route but I've just read too many horror stories and I know I'll screw it up.

Actually, if you read up on these message boards, I think you'll get all the information you need to tackle a DIY project if you're so inclined. Don't worry about screwing it up, as long as you use a quality product and prepare the surface well (of course, assuming you pass the moisture barrier test).

I had fun doing my own DIY. It turned out well and I have no regrets. I learned a lot, too...

If you're at all handy, you'll be OK. The hardest part was finding garagejournal.com. Next: take your time reading through old threads.

Don't check your yellow pages. Do a google search for decorative concrete coatings Massachusettes or garage flooring massachusettes. Check their references, see a finished job more than 2 years old. Ensure that they are using industrial coatings manufactured by industrial manufacturers, not some relabeled or big box store ****.
You can also call a local industrial manufacturer and ask them who they would recommend to intall their product.

Do your homework and you will guarranty yourself no headaches, low maintanance and a beautiful floor that will last. Remember, you'll allways get what yopu paid for. Cheaper is not allways better. Get 4 quotes and eliminate the low baller. He's probably a tail light contractor. Once he gets your mony the last thing you'll ever see from him is his tail lights.
