Good luck with that. I've only ever seen two Mac trucks, one in my area, and one in N. VA on a road trip last month. I've never actually seen the one in my area stopped at a shop, anywhere, ever. I'm not even sure it's a Mac guy anymore, or if someone bought the truck and didn't bother painting it. :lol:

This would make me really not want to buy anything of value from them. Only Mac tools I own are a couple hammers out of a toolbox my SO guy bought. They're nothing but Stanleys I could have bought at Home Depot, except they have "Mac Tools" molded in the rubber instead of "Stanley", and probably cost 4x as much when new.

On the Mac Tools website look under the Customer Service tab and click on the FAQs. Click on the question: "I am looking for a Distributor to visit my shop." You can follow the directions to email them.

You gotta call around to the different repair shops in your area and ask them if the MAC guy comes by.

Call Mac, tell them you would like to contact the local dealer, they will not give out his cell number, but they will call him and pass your info to him. Had to do it last month when I was traveling. Had the local driver on the phone within half an hour, and linked up with him within the hour.

Our Mac guy chewed us out since we didn't buy anything from him. Granted he came one every 3 months so who would.

Here we go with the "Anything but SnapOn is Junk" posts...PERSONALLY I love my MAC Guy (SnapOn guy is good too, but all things being equal, I prefer dealing with MAC)...Call Corporate...if theres one around he/she will call you.

We lost our MAC dealer around late 90's when he retired. We have never gotten another one and when I called the district rep about ten/twelve years ago they told me they doubt one would be replacing him.

Too bad too, because he was awesome and he treated me pretty good. He was at our door each and every week at the same time rain or shine. Treated everyone the same whether they bought from him or not, great guy. I bought a lot of tools from him back in the first ten years or so of wrenching. My first big tool box was a MAC Macsimizer and my blasting cabinet is MAC as well as battery charger and other larger tools in the shop but now I have very few MAC tools as I have slowly traded them off or sold and replaced them with Snap-On, Matco, Cornwell or Proto due to accessiblity.

Mike.

MAC Tools are great. Especially when you buy their monthly deals.

Agreed.
Driver makes all the difference...I had ordered that macsimizer handled 3/8" extension set in the Feb flyer on Jan 17th with no idea of the upcoming promo....He was here last wednesday and hooked me up with the BOGO promotion...By all rights he coulda stiffed me, and I didnt ask/beg for the BOGO...but he gave it to me and explained why the set "hadnt come in" the week before :beer:

Whys that? Is that since they don't stick around then you don't end up paying off your tools?

My brother actually owed the last snap on guy 500 on his truck account and the guy stopped coming around...turned out he went bankrupt. that was a couple years ago still hasn't had to pay :lol_hitti

Mine mopes in every 3 or 4 weeks with an absolute look of defeat in life and has absolutely no motivation. Therefore, I even refuse his catalog. Want my business, be like my SO guy, upbeat, personable, comes every week, even though I told him he can draw from my account every week my payment amount, he still checks with me to make sure I can cover it.

So, my guess is you can find your Mac guy stumbling into and out of depression at the bar.

I agree good luck I started in the late 80s with mostly Mac and have since endured 2 seperate 7 year droughts where there was no MAC rep within 40 miles... during the 1st I found myself making an 80 mile trek to my old mac man's home (these 2 droughts both happened after I moved 30 miles from where I lived when I started wrenching due to gettin married and movin outta Mom and Dad's house)
and he shafted me-BAD- the last time and now he is no longer a mac rep himself I lost thousands of $$$ worth of tools that I took to him to be warrantied
I went 6 months since the prior time that I had made the drive and convinced some of my co workers that had busted MAC in their bottom drawer that I had a source to get them warrantied, this last time I visited him, he traded them in for new and instead put them on the truck and sold them... instead of calling me and telling me he had them ready. I called him weekly asking if he had at least some of it, and it was always "couple more weeks" before he would have my stuff;
Then when he sold out and stopped his route all of a sudden I got a call sayin to come pickup a check for $75 as he figured that was what he figured my stiff I turned in to warrahty was worth at which time I told him to wipw his a** with the check as one rachet alone in that full 5 gallon bucket I had remembered paying HIM $80 for when I worked in the garage where he had been my rep; last I heard he was buying a video rental store.

Then--get this--- our next MAC rep was a guy that used to work at that shop where I had collected everyone's busted MAC from; within the new rep's 2nd visit all of a sudden my co workers had all new MAC to replace anything they had given me to take to the old MAC guy from when I had lived up north; I asked :Why them and not me?" so I was asked for a list of stuff I had turned in and tehn was told "What do you want me to do with this piece of paper?" To which I answered "The same quality customer service that you extended to Bill and Rich and Mark in getting their stuff replaced" at which my former co worker said "Too bad I cant help, call 1-800-MAC-TOOL" I had met the district rep when he was showing my old co worker jis new route and I called HIM even and likewise got the shaft.
I had a FULL 5 gallon bucket I took to my former Mac man while he was still dealing MAC tools; I'd venture to say 1/3 to 1/2 of that was MY stuff... with the rest being my co workers' You know how many cracked sockets, broken screwdrivers, stripped rachets and such can fit in a 5 gallon bucket? I still have a little bit of MAC but not much.

I still have 2 MAC rachets a 3/8 and a 1/2" drive both flex head... the 1/2 has been rebuilt by the last 2 reps that have each done the rebuild numerous times and they refused to replace it... each telling me "1 more time and you get a new one" the next time it would strip out and I'd smash my knuckles "that" rep had quit.
Now I see a Mac rep running around again; I have a neighbor that works at a shop in which he stops// I gave my neighbor the same 2 rachets to get REPLACED; and the new guy said he would replace the 3/8 if we broke the handle somehow but again REFUSED to replace the 1/2" one again just like his 2 predecessors;
I get about 4-6 uses out of the 1/2" one before I wind up with a busted tooth on it and smashed knuckles... the last guy said I was over using it for what it was designed it was good for 50 ft lb; use a breaker bar Cmon a 1/2" rachet with that low of a threshhold? I break loose alot of fasteners that are tighter than that and I have both Snap on and Crapsman that I have subjected to much heavier loads than this MAC and they don't break! but they will NOT replace it. I have had it with MAC.

man that truly *****! I would be pissed if that happened to me! It sounds like mac trucks are not near as good as a snap on guy! thanks for the input man I don't know if i will be calling mac lol, overall it sounds like everyones mac guy or previous mac guy is crappy or just missing. I don't need that.....I would rather just stick with snap on showing up every Tuesday at lunch:thumbup:

Bummer, I guess MAC would rather spend money on advertising in NASCAR than improve their business and customer service.

Give your local Mac guy a chance. Mine is really great and I hope yours is as well, but you won't know unless you give him a chance.

But maybe I am just lucky in that all four of the tool truck guys in town are pretty good, at least to me they are.

If I could give some advice it would be to buy something off the truck every time it comes by, even something small. If you have a need for something more substantial, call the driver. He will probably make a special trip that day if he knows you need something he has on the truck. Get to know the drivers. Do these things and you will receive great service from your local driver.

I'm not sure about lately, buy I always use to see a Mac truck on Stanley Ave. in Niagara Falls. I believe I use to see it at "Al's Radiators". You could always give them a call and see if you can find out what day he goes there or at least get the dealers name if he is still around.

thanks man I will give them a call. That would be great if he still went there, as my work is only 2 mins from that place on valley way so the truck could just swing by after! :beer:
