How to fix this drainage problem?

This house had a gravel driveway when it was built 45 years ago.
10 years ago the driveway was paved with asphalt.

When we get heavy rain there is a drainage problem.
Heavy rain today, the water almost entered the garage.

The "drain" appears to be an area where the concrete was removed.
Just dirt covered with bricks (bricks moved aside in the photo).

How could we put a real drain in there?

The water drains right to left. There is a large area of lawn to the right
where the water could go.

Gas concrete saw with an asphalt abrasive wheel.

Cut a section across the driveway out and install a trench drain, draining to the lawn, assuming the lawn is below the grade of the driveway.

May want to open cut the asphalt at the low point in front of the garage doors and install a curtain drain. There are trench drain grates available that can be installed where the asphalt was removed. Pipe the water via perf pipe (get the good stuff at a supply house and avoid the cheap products typically available at the big box stores) to an accessible low point away from the building. Dig a dry well, if you have to and if you have a sufficiently low water table. Add berms and contour the ground as necessary. Add gutters if you don't already have them; they work well even in very low temperatures that we experience here in Alaska. Try and stop/redirect water before it gets to your building, if possible.

I will be interested in hearing about the solution and seeing the pictures.

I'd be inclined to install a trench drain in front of the garage door and drain it away or in to a french drain
dingdingdingding

PVC channel drain, cross section the size of a 2x4. Just saw cut across the front of the garage twice, excavate and install flush with the driveway surface.

And find out what additional measures are needed up there around Santa's workshop.
