Hi Folks,

New to the forum here, looking for some advice. I am planning on getting a set of NewAge Pro cabinets and need to install it on a wall that has a water pipe installed on it - see pics. It creates about a 1.75 inch offset. I plan to have the cabinets standing on the feet, but am not sure how to secure to the wall given the 1.75 inch gap.

Any recommendations?

The phots shows the front and top view of the water pipe.

Thanks

I'd fill the gap with blocking/shims from either ripped down 2x material, or 2x material and plywood stacked.

Welcome to the forum from Coronado.

I fastened 2X4 horizontal furring strips on to my studs, then mounted my cabinets to them.

I suspect most would just use Nails to attach furring strips of 2x material. but your bigger issues is 2x is only 1.5 inches and not 2, yes you can get full size but not easy to find.

You might see the install instructions for the cabinets your looking as you might find the bottom has a relieve built in for trim and other obstructions. or you may need a bit more furing strips to make it work.

Stupid question, but can you move the water pipe? It looks like it's close to the floor, can you move it up high above the cabinets? Run it close to the ceiling?

seeing as your concrete wall appears to protrude out aswell could you not just install the cabinets slightly higher to clear the water line also?

A 2x4 will get you 1 1/2” inches away from your wall then add a 1x4 you should be good out past your pipe.

Find your studs

Space some 3” screws to the edges of the 2x4 and save the Newage supplied lag bolts for the center after drilling a small diameter pilot hole.

Here’s what I did in order to get around some HVAC ductwork/Sheetrock in my garage (Newage 36” locker).IMG_2116.jpg

My wall is corrugated metal, and so I screwed 2x4 boards on the flat side, vertically on the recessed part of the metal, to bring my mounting face 1.5" out past the high point of the metal ribbing of the wall covering... then lag bolted cabinets to the wood strips... pretty much the same process as what previous replies described.
