I know how to install a window but I'm currently working on my shop that has vinyl backed insulation (white vinyl facing in and fiberglass out). I'm curious what the process for sealing up a window is since I can't tape over the insulation? How do the metal building guys do it? Mine is wood frame but it can't be that much different since both use the same type insulation!

The vinyl backed insulation is the waterproof barrier. I am curious how windows are installed in a metal building. Metal buildings are a common place that this style of insulation is used. Sorry I don't have any drawings on my phone. I will try to get some later

Most metal building manufacturers have exploded diagrams/cross-sectional drawings/pdf's of that type of installation.

The most important part is getting the top flashing correct. The insulation on the interior is usually just cut back and the vinyl backing is taped to the outer edge of the window frame if it's exposed insulation blanket. If there's a wall it would be trim out.
