Hey, I’m curious what the best way to insulate around the door would be. The rest of my garage is fibreglass. I know this white foam basically has no r value. I want to insulate then put up some ply wood or something to finish it off. Any ideas? Use rigid insulation or spray foam?IMG_3344.jpeg

That 'nothing' is probably ~R4.
You could add more thickness of rigid foam panels to those door segments. Taking care not to interfere with the operation of the door.

I'm working up some slotted slats to combine with a flexible door gasket so I can cover the gaps in my single door. My double door has such a setup but the single was never so equipped. And I can basically stick my fingers thru the side gaps . So time to close that up.

You can see the daylight shining thru the gap in teh 2nd picture

Why not fiberglass, matching the rest of the building?

So would putting fibreglass on top the foam, then vapour barrier then the plywood be the way to go? First time ever insulating something so why I ask

How is the rest of the building done? Are you in a cooling or heating climate? What is on the other side of the foam?

The rest of the building I'm not sure what’s been done, it’s behind the steel skins. The other side of the foam is steel.

I heat the shop in the winter, dehumidifier in the summer

Assuming the rest of the building has fiberglass as stated in the OP, I'd pull the foam, fill the cavities with fiberglass (R-13 if it's a 4" wall or R-19 if it's a 6" wall), then vapor barrier and sheet with whatever interior sheeting you prefer. The vapor barrier goes to the warm side of the wall; since you're heating but not cooling, that's the interior side.

Ok, awesome, thank you for your help, I’ll post some pictures when I get around to this. I hope to do it before it gets too cold.
