Hello all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this so mods feel free to move.

I'm new to the forum but I've been reading a lot about flooring. I have an older 2 car and it appears the bottom plate was laid on top of some type of brick. During very hard rains, I get some moisture seepage.

Is there anything I can do to remedy this prior to putting up drywall? Maybe some type of roof coating? Here's a pic.

Thanks!

Your first step is to find out where the water is coming from. Check the drainage on the other side of the wall. Check out your eaves, and downspouts. Your least common ( Though it happens) source of water is from pressure below the slab.

There was a conversation about this within the past 60 says. Give the search function a go.

That looks like a block frost footing that your garage was built on. I would take the previous posters advice, and try and determine where the water is coming from. Is the ground outside the leak, pitched away from the building, plus the other suggestions posted above. You need to cure the problem, not put a band aid on it.

I appreciate all the replies. Thanks for the help!

BTW, are "block frost footings" a common practice used anymore?
