Easy enough to do just in case you haven't figured it out. Undo the two small hex grub screws and then shake out the two pins by banging the head into your hand. The drive shaft and handle pull out.
The reversible ratchet is a sealed unit in the head however you can put oil down the shaft which oozes out and does seem to make things run better although this will never be one of the smoother or more compact designs.
The pinion shaft engages two crown wheels in the head top and bottom. A clever design that enables the square drive to turn in the same direction with a twisting action of the handle.
The pinion gear on my Facom 3/8 version was heavily greased from the Taiwanese factory. I replaced this with new synthetic grease and it definitely runs smoother.
