How to move a switch for an outlet

I had a previous thread about eliminating a switch for an outlet but the more I think about it, I’d rather have that outlet stay switched. It’s the switch for the garbage disposal. Right now it’s on the wall above the sink but I’m going to move it below the sink and put it in the cabinet.

There are two black wires hooked up to the switch now and the white wires are pig tailed together inside the box. Both outlets on the receptacle are controlled by the switch. Is it as simple as pigtailing the black wires together and the white wires together and just run some new 12/2 to under the sink and hook that up. Or do I need two runs of 12/2? I’ll move the current box a little lower in the other side of the wall (pony wall) and make the junctions in there.

I’m unable to find any diagrams or anything that show me what I want to do. Maybe I’m searching under the wrong terms.

You don't need two runs of 12-2. Leave the white neutrals connected as they are in the existing switch box (or the relocated location). Remove the switch and hook one black wire to the new 12-2 black wire. Hook the other black wire to the new 12-2 white wire and color the end of it black with a sharpie or black tape. Now on the switch end of the new 12-2 hook both white and black to the switch and color the white one black showing that it is a hot wire. Make sure your bare copper grounds are continuous if you have ground wiring.

Ah ok that makes sense. Basically just making the black wires longer and creating a junction inside the existing box. Thank you.
