How to move

Hey guys I'm new here and love the site, I might be getting a 12x24 pole barn for $1000 and I need to have it transported would anyone know of a company that does things like that ?

Another thing I saw on YouTube was a Hydraulic flatbed trailer that lifts up in the air and pools the pole barn

I live on Ohio and the pole barn is in Michigan if needed to know thanks for any help

Please post pics when you do this I would like to see it... what I am picturing is gonna be very difficult. That is pretty large... and by Pole Barn is the foundation attached to the walls by any means?

No it's not attached to the foundation, I never had a barn moved before so any input on how to would be great lol

And I hate to tear it all down and rebuild when it's at my home

Personally I'd mark it for assembly, take it apart, load it on a trailer, move it and re-assemble.

I think the hardest part would be is the roof, I see they have Shingles on top, when I get home ill post some pics

Companies around me build and ship sheds all the time. I'd be calling the places like that, get a price to move the shed. Call the ones in MI and get a shipping quote to your place. Keith

From where to where ? You're going to need to take it apart or get some permits if you want to go down some good roads.

So you're going to have to come down around Toledo, busy busy traffic. I think it'd be the best to take it apart like shown in the link.

Around here, you can get a 36 by 36 pole barn for about $6000 new. I would think the materials for a 12 x 24 should be under $2000, and that for an all metal exterior, including roof. Unless you have the trailer to make the trip, disassemble and haul yourself and money is a big issue, I don't see how you could come out ahead on this deal. Good luck and keep us posted.

I do have the trailer and the guys to do it, I'm just debating on the 2hr drive I might just search CL a few more times to see if I can't find one closer

From what you describe, it isn't a pole barn. That causes serious confusion when you describe something as a "pole barn" when really its a large shed on skids.

A pole barn is constructed by taking poles and setting them in holes in the ground and usually pouring cement around them, then finishing the building. It is not reasonable to attempt to move a pole barn as you have to saw off the poles at ground level, thus losing the strength they provide.

A 12x24 shed is oversize, and will require oversize DOT permits (from both states) to transport on the road (and possibly marked escorts, not sure at what width that requirement begins). If it is over 14 of so feet high when on the trailer, you will have height issues transporting as many highway overpasses are 14 ft and some less.

You really need to forget this idea. Even if it were totally free, it will probably cost more than a new shed built on your site would cost.

My work sold a small house - about 20x30ish - for $500. It was moved 30 miles. We're pretty rural. They guys doing the move said the cost was right at $15,000.

I need to crunch the numbers. How much is the materials worth at your local lumber yard? vs. cost of mover, vs. cost to go and dismantle and move. 4 hour round trip, how many times, how $ for gas, food, motel room, pay for your friends, etc etc. How much is your time worth. Your going to need latters, if its shinges your have to pay new one etc. Imo it ain't worth the time and trouble.

Yea that's why I asked for some input, ill have to check lumber yard and see how much it would cost to build one
