How to open thread at beginning

Is there any way in the new software I can click on an unread thread and have it open to the starting message in the thread? It seems that the new software keeps a marker in all threads when I click "Mark Read", and opening a previously unread thread takes me to that marker spot, rather than the beginning.

In the old software, clicking on the thread title of a thread took me to the beginning of the thread, whereas clicking on the icon to the left of the title took me to unread content. On a previously unread thread, the "beginning" and the marker for new content were at the same (the first) message.

I may be misreading your question (and your intent), but ALL threads that you have never opened before (i.e., truly "unread") will open at post 1, page 1, the first time you click on them.

Let's say such a thread has 19 pages and you only read page 1 and 2. The next time you go back to that forum, the thread will still have the red [NEW!] box next to it, because there are posts you have not yet read, and when you click on it, it will take you to page 3, where you left off. It will do that until you read every page or click on page 19. When it goes [NEW!] again and you click on it, it will take you to the new post(s). If there is nothing new posted and you click on it again, to re-read something, to look up a part number you saw referenced there, etc, it will take you to page 1, post 1 - which some of us find illogical and annoying.

If by "unread" you mean threads you're reading, all caught up on, Watching, and getting Alerts on, and it has [NEW!] posts that you haven't read - in other words, you haven't yet clicked on the thread, then no, there is no way to go to page 1, post 1 instead. Not sure why anyone would want to go to post 1 page 1 in a thread you've been watching and reading with new posts, but you'd have to click on the thread, it would take you to the new post(s), and you'd have to click on the page [1] button instead.
