How to paint this

Ok, I am slowly stripping my Kitchenette which is galvanized. I know there are special techniques that I have to do to paint this metal. But my question is how do I paint the inside of the boxes in it? I am going to use a gun with enamel paint as that will be the closest I can get to lacquer in looks.

Thanks,

Mike

I am aware of that brand but did not know it would work on galvanized metal without etching the surface for it to adhere too.

Thank you,

Mike

A touch-up HVLP gun could work, especially if it's connected to a remote pressure pot so you don't have to have an attached cup. Airless works well too. Fine finish low pressure tips are easy to source for airless guns.

As far as the paint you plan to use, I'd strongly suggest anything other than oil on galvanized. Although it will adhere initially, the alkyd binders react with the zinc galvanizing which causes saponification. The result is peeling paint, sometimes in sheets.
Acrylic DTM's or epoxy would be a much better choice.

Acid wash primers are what I use on galvanized and other raw metals, tenacious bond and is a thin translucent green coating. vinyl composition, acid catalyst, very quick curing.

Here is the industrial version I use, other brands can be had at automotive paint stores.
Top coat with the paint of your choice. Normally I use acrylic enamel but have used others as topcoat.

The gun I use for tight quarters inside boxes and spraying upside down, with a side mounted swivel cup
