How to proceed with closing this in?

So I have a question about how to go about insulating/closing this ceiling in.

My barn has a lean to on each side. I enclosed a 12’ portion of that, which is open to my main barn. The lean to roof has vented soffit, but the trusses are attached to the side of the barn, so there is no where for that air to vent to (like a ridge vent on a normal roof).

My question is, in order to close in this ceiling so I can insulate (batts or blowing, tin ceiling), do I have to cut in a vent for the air to get out of? Or can I just close it in, with no other vent, just the vented soffit?

Can you vent in the end gable? There is a special vent that can go where the roof would meet a sidewall but if your roofing is continuous, gable might be your best option. Something is better than nothing.

Yes I think I could cut in a vent in the gable, how big should it be? That room is 16’x12’
