Recently was given a bunch of stuff, which included a booklet by Snap-on titled, How To Protect Your Tools It looks to be printed in the forties judging by the pictures. It does show what looks like a KR-65 which I believe dates to 1948.

It looks to be a somewhat rare beast as I couldn't anything on it.

I have a couple of pages scanned here, if there is interest, I'll scan the rest.

Pretty neat.
I can't see any company advocating to use gas as a cleaning agent these days.

"Cleaning your tools could disturb micro habitats for potential future species and as such Snap-On does not recommend cleaning any of your tools."

Marketing: Ok does that cover us enough?
Legal: Not even close, but it's the best we can do

The album should be made into a sticky thread for all the newbies who join and ask how to protect/care for their tools. It will save a lot of time and space on this forum. I bet we see a new thread titled "rusty tools" before the weeks out.

I can take the high-res scans and convert them into a text-searchable PDF if you'd like.

Following. That's a cool find. Old literature is always an interesting read. I have an old mechanics book, kind of a cars for dummy's type book from 1922 that I love reading through. Amazing how times have changed. Can't remember the last time I oiled my wooden wheels ;)

Many thanks for scanning/posting this booklet.

I loved the way all edges are filed and the box is then rubbed down with emery before painting.!
(Just the way I still do things :D)

You're welcome...it is a fun read. And yes, I am very much old school too as you describe, yourself.

OK, thanks for the offer.

Educate me please. I find a moment of anger coming over me when forced to deal with that PDF format as it seems so unfriendly and awkward...compared to JPEG. That is why I chose JPEG over PDF when scanning those pages.

Obviously, I am missing something...what do others think? To me it does not really matter now as I have JPEG's safely stored away on my computer.

On another topic. Is there a way to rearrange those photos within an album? (I could not find any means there or in the "FAQ")
